‘ If War Veterans Association (ZLWVA) Feel I have Overstayed And Must Go, I Will Step Down!’-Mugabe

Africa’s oldest leader, the  92 year old, despot and controversial Zimbabwean President ,Robert Mugabe, is now showing signs of relenting to  the mounting pressure  and calls from both the opposition and from within his own party, to resign.

Robert Mugabe announced that the Zanu PF war veterans, a group which is credited globally as having led the armed struggle for independance and eventually the brutal, racist , white farmer eviction from commercial farms, which subseuqently collapsed a once successful Agriculture, feeding Africa, as the ‘Bread Basket of Africa’, bringing it down to a Charity basket in need of global support to feed the people, will be his queue for retirement, if the ask him to do so.

Mugabe was addressing a Zanu PF rally in  Bindura, when he announced that the traditionally pro Mugabe,  Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (ZLWVA) are pressing for him , the patron of the ZLWVA to finally resign from power.

Speaking in Shona, President Mugabe said that, ‘They feel, the president has overstayed and must go. ‘

The president can only be removed by the Zanu PF congress. The next Zanu PF congress is due  to be held in 2019 thus this announcement is taken with a pinch of salt as the old man is well known for shifting goal posts and claiming that he was taken out of context.

Following deadly factional wars and Grace Mugabe’s controversial entry and rise in politics, he is admittedly coming to terms with calls for him to step down. He will shortly, meet the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (ZLWVA) in a no holds barred meeting. The world now awaits the results, but based on past performance by war veterans and the state of Agricuture and the nation and considering that the war veterans are literally responsible for the nation’s suffering, Mugabe’s announcement could be nothing but aload of ‘hot air’ as usual.
